HSE 'B' Team needs T-Bird Classic Coordinator NOW!
(9/20/2007) Every season the HSE Varsity 'B' team hosts the T-Bird Classic Tournament over
Thanksgiving weekend. It is a great opportunity to stay at home over the holiday and
play some great hockey. We need a HSE 'B' parent to step up and volunteer to be the
Tournament Coordinator. This is an established tournament that already has four teams
interested in playing. Please contact Jim Martin jpmsales@insightbb.com
if you can help organize this tournament.
Some of the work has already been done (ice scheduling, etc.) but we need an energetic
parent to follow through and help make this a success. Please step up and help the program.
Thanks!
Danny Ivory makes IU team
(9/20/2007) Former Hamilton Southeastern goaltender Danny Ivory has made the Indiana University hockey team.
Danny is a former HSE Varsity 'A', Wings U16, Wings U18, and Team Indiana player. Congratulations
and best of luck this season! Other Hoosier League players to make the IU team include
Alex Cook (South Stars 'A') and Chris Gordon (Columbus Icemen). Go Hoosiers! Follow the action throughout
their season on the IU Club website at www.iuhockey.org
Code of Conduct Reminder
(9/20/2007) The HSE Player Code of Conduct (which every player has signed) states that if
you are going to miss a practice, you must call the coach and let him know. Coach Dych
has requested that any Varsity 'B' players that are going to miss practice call him directly
on his cell phone (317-513-0667) by noon of the day they are going miss. Thank you.
Spirit Wear has Arrived
(9/20/2007) The Spirit Wear order has arrived and will be available at the rink TODAY between
5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Please do not try to pick it up early as the massive order is
being sorted, checked, and rechecked.
Team Pictures - Tuesday Sept 25th
(9/18/2007) The HSE Hockey Club Team Pictures are scheduled for Tuesday, September 25th.
The coaches will have 'picture envelopes' at practice this week to send home with players.
The players need to bring the envelope and checks with them at the time the pictures are
taken. The HSE Varsity 'A' and Varsity 'B' teams pictures will start at 4:00 p.m. The
Varsity 'C' team will have their pictures done at their regular practice time of 8:40 p.m.
that evening. The boys need to wear a white button down shirt and tie. No clip on, zipper
ties, or bow ties allowed. The boys must be clean shaven and their hair must look 'neat'.
All senior players need to be at the 4:00 p.m. photo session, and should bring a pair of
sunglasses. If you have any questions, contact Cindy King at
realestcindy@aol.com.
Check out the HSE Players in the Spotlight.
(9/4/2007) The new feature "Players Spotlight" debuts today. The first two players
are Jonathan Kansteiner and Todd Jacobs. As you can see, it takes a little bit of
work to put the page together. That is why it is so important to respond to Terri
Blackwell's email promptly and to get the information turned in by the date she
requests. A special 'shoutout' to Terri for her persistence and tenacity in chasing
down the information. Terri will be contacting players as the season progresses, and
we look forward to "spotlighting" different players each week.
Varsity C - Practice Time Change for Tuesday 9/4
(9/1/2007) The Varsity C team will practice from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday,
September 4th. This is a "one time" change. Practice will resume at its normal
time the following Tuesday.
HSE Hockey Club in Full Swing
(9/1/2007) The teams have hit the ice. The A team is looking sharp in their new RBK practice
jerseys. Mass quantities of burgers and hot dogs were consumed at the picnic. A special thanks to Patty
June for all your hard work on the picnic. And everyone's cars are looking shiny and clean.
The car wash fundraiser at Wal-Mart was a big success, raising over $2,200 for the Hockey
Club. Thanks to coordinator Judi Knafel for a job well done. What a great way to kick off the season!
The pictures from the car wash have been posted on the "Photos" pages. Thanks to Terri Blackwell
for the pictures. Also, the contact information has been updated for the 2007-08 season on
the "Contacts" page.
HSE Skate Sharpening Program
(9/1/2007) The HSE Hockey Club is offering a skate sharpening program for HSE players.
Many thanks to the Jessee family for their generous donation of a skate sharpener to the
HSE locker room. Donnie Short (HSE A), Steve Jessee (HSE B), and Jay Updike (HSE C) have
volunteered to serve as sharpeners for their respective teams. There is a one time
$20 fee per player that will cover skate sharpenings for the entire season. The funds
will be used to cover the cost of hand stones, machine stones, cutting oil, and other
supplies. Participation in this program is voluntary. A list of the players that have
paid will be posted on the locker room door. Only the players on the list will be eligible
for Club skate sharpenings. Donnie Short will be sharpening HSE A skates on Thursday
mornings. The other volunteers will be establishing a time in the near future. Thanks
again to Steve Jessee, Donnie Short, and Jay Updike.
